General Availability for .CO will start on July 20
|
On July 20, 2010 the .CO General Availability (GA) phase will start at 18:00 UTC / 20:00 CEST. Key-Systems will initially transmit all pre-orders.
During the first hours of the launch, new registrations or any changes of existing .CO domains will not be possible. No later than 23:00 UTC / 01:00 CEST all functionality should be fully available again.
This measure is used to guarantee a smooth General Availability launch. You and your customers should be assured the highest possible chance of a successful allocation for the pre-ordered .CO domain names during General Availability.
On July 20 between 16:00 UTC / 18:00 CEST and 18:00 UTC / 20:00 CEST the registry itself will be conducting maintenance work in order to prepare the launch of the GA.
To ensure successful transmission of your applications to the registry, we assign Key-Systems' contact handle and Key-Systems' name server to the newly registered .CO domains first, then modify these to the requested information within 24 hours.

- dd24 webmailer: server based rules for filtering emails
The dd24 webmailer offers now the option to configure server based rules for filtering emails. This feature allows you to filter emails directly on the server by means of the address of the sender (or by any other header data). This filter is also effective if you retrieve your e-mails via an email client. You can find this new feature under "Personal Settings/Filters". The filter is based on Sieve, a special language for filtering e-mail messages.
- Optional email address only for billing purposes
In your dd24 customer account under "User Admin/Personal Information", you can now set an additional email address for receiving invoices. If you do so, dd24 invoices will be sent to both e-mail addresses.

.CN Registrants must confirm data per email
|
By short notice, the .CN registry has informed us that it has started to send emails directly to all registrants of .CN domains with the request to confirm their registration information.
The subject of the email is "Domain Name Information Confirmation". The email contains a confirmation link that must be activated by clicking on it in order to confirm that the domain name registration information is correct.
The domain name registration information has to be confirmed within 15 days of receipt of the notice. Currently, the registry does not intend to directly suspend or delete domains if customers do not respond within this period. Instead the registry is planning to send reminder emails if the responding rate is low.
Please check your mailbox for CNNIC emails and activate the link if you feel your details are correct.
If you want to update your registration data please log in to your dd24 customer account. Please note that for some changes you need to complete forms. These forms will be provided in the webinterface as well.

Since May, the .CO.UK registry Nominet is checking the correctness of contact details such as full name, postal address and other data like email address. The new process is related to the effort to offer improved WHOIS services.
Where Nominet detects that data are incorrect, the registrant will be informed and asked to update the data. We will forward the notifications of the registry to the e-mail addresses which are indicated in the owner contact of the regarding CO.UK domain and in your dd24 customer account.
If the contact details are not updated the domain name will be suspended (after 30 days) and canceled (after another 30 days). The registrant will informed about the process several times.

.RU: verification of identity required
|
The .RU registry has introduced new registration rules:
Registrants of .RU domain names must verify their identity by submitting respective documents. This means that the owner contact (contact handle) must be verified.
These changes also apply to all existing .RU registrations. The documents must be submitted by April 1, 2010. The non-submission of documents may result in the deletion of domains. Therefore, we strongly advise you to submit the required documents as soon as possible.
Effective March 22, 2010 the ID documents have to be submitted within three business days when registering a new .RU domain. If a contact handle has been successfully confirmed once, it will not have to be verified again.
Which documents are required?
- For legal entities / companies: A copy of a document confirming state registration of a legal entity issued by the state authorities (certificate of registration, excerpt from the commercial register)
- For natural persons and entrepreneurs: passport copy
Please note: The documents have to be readable, personal details and date of issue have to be obvious. You can submit the documents in your national language. You do not have to translate them.
How to submit the documents?
Please save the documents as PDF file only and then upload the file for the corresponding handle in your dd24 customer account. Simply follow the directions that will be displayed after you have logged into your customer account. This hint takes you to a page where you can upload the documents.
Please note that the file must have the extension .pdf. The file can be up to 5 MB in size.

Introduction of .CO second-level domains
|
The country code top-level domain (ccTLD) .CO of Colombia is operated by a new registry since February 2010. The registry has released a detailed plan for the launch of .CO second-level domains. So far, only third-level domains with extensions like .COM.CO or .NET.CO were available for registration.
The .CO launch process is scheduled into five launch phases.
It starts with a Grandfathering process: Until March 30, 2010, registrants of existing third-level domains (.COM.CO, .NET.CO and .NOM.CO) can apply for the corresponding second-level domain name, if the third-level domain was registered prior to July 30, 2008.
Pricing: 30.00 EUR / 35.70 EUR incl. VAT per year and domain during Grandfathering. Please note: The initial registration period for .CO domain names in this phase is 2 years.
General availability will start in July.
Then, everyone can register a .CO domain (first-come, first-served). Starting in the middle of March, we are going to offer .CO third-level registrations as well.

.NL: New General Terms and Conditions

Because of a new .NL registration system (switchover to EPP) and changed processes, SIDN - the registry of the Dutch ccTLD .NL - is revising the General Terms and Conditions for .NL registrants.

.CN: new registrations only for companies with an office in China
|
CNNIC, the registry of the Chinese ccTLD .CN, has again changed their registration rules for oversea registrars: only oversea multinational entities with a Chinese branch are allowed to register .CN domains. This affects new registrations.
Who may register?
International companies, enterprises and organizations that operate a wholly owned or share controlling entity in China, including a branch, a subsidiary or a representative office with same "name" as the parent entity.
The person / employee submitting the application on behalf of the registrant (the entity), must be a Chinese citizen and must have a valid personal ID of the People's Republic of China.
In order to register a .CN domain three documents have to be submitted:
- the original application form of CNNIC stamped with business seal of the registrant
- company business license (photocopy)
- registrant ID (photocopy) of the person submitting the application on behalf of the company

.ORG IDNs: now support for Chinese characters
|
As of January 23, 2010, the .ORG registry also supports Chinese IDNs. The principle first-come, first-served applies.
A Chinese Domain Name (in native script) must contain at least one (1) Chinese character. You may choose Chinese characters, numbers (0-9) or hyphens (-) to compose your Chinese Domain Name. The (native script) length shall be limited to 14 characters. ASCII letters (A-Z same as a-z) are not permitted.
We are offering .ORG Chinese IDNs at the regular .ORG price of only 10.07 EUR / 11.98 EUR incl. VAT per year and domain.
.ORG Chinese IDNs registered between January 23, 2010 and February 22, 2010 will be placed on Server Hold, Server Update Prohibited, Server Renew Prohibited, Server Transfer Prohibited and Server Delete Prohibited until March 25, 2010 to allow any Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) disputes to be initiated. The Sunrise period for .LU IDNS runs from February 1, 2010 to March 31, 2010. During this period, owners of ASCII .LU names will be able to get the respective IDNs.
Sunrise rules:
An IDN must be registered to the same holder (same name, same address) as the similar ASCII domain name. The registrar does not have to be the same for both names. Trades of IDNs registered during the Sunrise period will be blocked until March 31, 2010.

.LU: Launch of IDNs

The registry of .LU has announced the launch of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) as of February 1, 2010.
There will be a Sunrise period between February 1, 2010 and March 31, 2010. During this period only owners of already registered ASCII .LU names will be able to get the respective IDNs. Thus, this Sunrise period is rather a Grandfathering process.
Beginning April 1, 2010 IDN registrations will be performed on a "first-come, first-served" basis.

.DE transfers only possible with AuthInfo
|
On January 31, DENIC will stop supporting the old registrar change procedure. Starting on February 1, 2010 domain holders must use the AuthInfo procedure to change their registrar with the following work-flow:
1. A domain holder who wants to change registrars requests his/her current registrar to initiate the creation of an AuthInfo for the domain concerned. The validity of the AuthInfo expires 30 days after the creation date at the
latest.
2. Now the domain holder communicates the AuthInfo to his/her new registrar. The new registrar sends a provider change request with the AuthInfo to DENIC´s registration system.
3. If the recorded and the transmitted AuthInfo are identical, the domain is
moved to the new registrar without any further delay.
Please note: The AuthInfo procedure is now also available for .DE TRANSIT domains. Please make sure that the owner/admin data is correct, as DENIC tries to get in touch directly with the domain holder as part of the TRANSIT procedure (DENIC writes to the domain holder and issues a password).

.CN registration temporarily unavailable
|
CNNIC, the official registry for the Chinese top-level domain .CN, announced that all oversea registrars will no longer be allowed to register .CN domains starting with January 6, 2010. In consequence, the registration of .CN domain names with domaindiscount24 is unfortunately no longer possible at the moment. The registration stop is planned to be temporarily. According to the Chinese registry, difficulties in handling the comprehensive new registration documents (see below) are the reason for this drastic development. The new registration documents are required since the middle of December 2009, when CNNIC suddenly changed its registration policies.
CNNIC has not specified a date at which the exclusion of oversea registrars from .CN registrations is removed again. The registry has announced to further explore methodologies on how to verify the registration documents with its oversea partners. As soon as a new mechanism is established, CNNIC will reopen the registration.
We hope to be able to offer you .CN domain names again soon.
Prior to this last change, CNNIC has carried out two more changes in its registration policies:
1. Since January 1st, 2010, China domestic registrants are no longer allowed to register a .CN domain via an oversea registrar.
2. If any registrant's business license or personal ID are not in Chinese or English, he has to file in a notarized English translation of these documents for domain name application starting with January 15th, 2010.

.ME domains for only 12.98 EUR

.CN: drastic changes
|
Forced by the Chinese Government, CNNIC made sudden, drastic changes to its registration policies.
All registrants of .CN domain names are required now to submit additional paper based information. The complete application material has to include 3 parts:
- the original application form of CNNIC stamped with business seal of the registrant
- company business license (photocopy)
- registrant ID (photocopy)
(all major languages are accepted)
As a consequence, private registrations are no longer possible.
Renewals of already registered domains are not affected.
Since December 21, 2009, .CN registrations via dd24 are processed as stated below:
.CN domain are no longer created in real-time. Initially, the process of registration will remain in the status "Processing". After you have registered and paid a .CN domain, you find the required form for download in the domain list in your dd24 customer account.
After entering all required details, you can create and download a PDF document. Together with your copy of the company business license and a copy of the registrant ID, you have to send this generated application form stamped with business seal to CNNIC and to Key-Systems using BOTH fax numbers or via email using BOTH email addresses given on the form within 5 days after your payment. The Chinese registry will check if the documents are qualified to allow a domain registration. Accordingly, the application will be accepted (and the domain will be registered) or denied (and the domain will be deleted). You will receive feedback about success or refusal of the registration through our system.

.CZ: new registration rules
|
CZ.NIC, the registry of the Czech top-level domain has announced some changes within the registration requirements concerning mainly the following issues:
- small changes to individual terminologies
- the domain holders' right of access have been expanded
- the registry has strengthened their rights to delete domains in cases of violation
The new registration rules of domain name registration under the ccTLD .CZ will be valid as of January 1, 2010.
You can check the changes in the this document in which the revisions are highlighted in red.

.CN re-activated again
|
.CN registrations under the "old" procedure are available again - but only until December 21, 2009.
Beginning with this date, the new registration requirements for .CN will be effective: individuals are not allowed to register .CN domains any longer and applicants have to submit additional paper based application material.
The complete application material has to include 3 parts:
- the original application form of CNNIC stamped with business seal of the registrant
- company business license (photocopy)
- registrant ID (photocopy)

.CO.IL and .ORG.IL available now
|
We are happy to inform you about the launch of the official country code second-level domains of Israel. With immediate effect we are offering the Israeli domain endings .CO.IL and .ORG.IL for registration.
You can register domain names under .CO.IL and .ORG.IL at the dd24 rate of only 25.00 EUR / 29.75 EUR incl. VAT per year and domain.
.CO.IL and .ORG.IL domains can be registered by anyone. The domains are not created in real-time. It takes up to 3 business days until the registration is completed. The maximum registration period is 2 years. So far, more than 157,000 Israeli domain names are registered.

.NL transfers now possible without forms
|
The transfer of .NL domain names is now possible without the submission of forms via fax.
Documents are only required in cases where there is an objection on the part of the former registrar. In these cases the registrant of the domain has to deliver the required forms during a period of 3 business days.

.EU IDNs - pre-register now!
|
EURid, the registry of the European TLD .EU, will launch Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) under .EU on December 10, 2009, 11:00 CET (10:00 UTC).
You can submit your pre-registrations until December 10, 2009, 07:59 CET (06:59 UTC).
Please note: On December 10, between 8:00 and 11:00 CET (7:00 and 10:00 UTC) all connections to the .EU registration system are cut. .EU registrations are not possible during this time. At 11:00 CET (10:00 UTC) the .EU registration system goes online again, but approximately in the first 30 minutes only the .EU IDN applications will be processed.

New requirements within the registration of .RU domain names
|
The registry of the Russian ccTLD has announced a change within the registration requirements: to register a .RU domain name the registrants must prove their identity by submitting appropriate ID documents.
What is required?
- A copy of a document confirming state registration from companies (legal entities)
- A passport copy (personal details and issuance data) from natural persons and entrepreneurs
The new rules allow for a transition period: For registered domains, the identification documents can be submitted until April 1, 2010. For the period until April 1, 2010 the registration requests will be processed in the usual routine and effective April 1, 2010 new domains will be available for the identified clients only.
The new procedure is not yet clearly defined by the registry. We will inform you in the next newsletter about the details and how we will manage the new requirements within our registration system.

.ORG Chinese IDNs in January 2010
|
The .ORG registry has announced the introduction of .ORG Chinese IDNs on January 23, 2010.
Chinese IDNs registered between January 23, 2010 19:00 UTC and February 22, 2010 19:00 UTC (during the first 30 days of operation) will be placed on Server Delete Prohibited, Server Transfer Prohibited, Server Update Prohibited, Server Renew Prohibited and Server Hold. These statuses will remain in effect until March 25, 2010 to allow intellectual property interests to file UDRP actions if warranted.
Due to the expected demand, we are not planning to offer pre-orders. We will provide you with more details in the next newsletter.
